Squash Blossoms
June 22, 2010
I love acorn squash. I think I may have mentioned that once, or twice, before.
So, when an acorn squash plant sprouted out of our compost heap, Jim and I were thrilled. And now that we have an acorn squash the size of a tennis ball, we’re really thrilled. Guess I need to find some more recipes…
Do you have a favorite recipe using acorn squash? Or a tip for growing them?

How exciting! And such a nice surprise to find in your compost!
I know nothing of squash although this year is a huge learning experience for gardening. Keep me posted!
I have zero cooking squash experience either. 😦 Yet.

Yes — we were very pleased when we saw that little sprout (which I’m a little embarassed we thought was watermelon at first!) emerge from the dirt.
Squash is very easy to work with in the kitchen, is good for you and just plain yummy! Especially the acron squash. Let me know if you experiment with it — I’d love to hear your results!
P.S. This is my first vegetable garden, so we’ll see if this little guy makes it to maturity…
